Commissioning Editor, Bradt Travel Guides

Updated: Sep 28, 2019

Bradt Travel Guides – one of the world's leading guidebook publishers – is seeking to recruit a Commissioning Editor, responsible for commissioning the 40+ new editions/titles published by Bradt annually.

Reporting to the Head of Editorial, and working closely with the Publishing Manager, the successful candidate will maintain the forward publishing programme, assess pitches, liaise with authors to agree schedules, content and contractual terms, and generally ensure titles are commissioned in good time to meet key dates for editorial, sales and marketing.

The role requires a superb standard of organisation, strong communication skills (written and verbal), and confidence in reacting to shifting priorities. Applicants should have worked for three–four years in the editorial department of a publishing company (preferably travel publishing), have some relevant commissioning experience, and be comfortable using standard programs like Excel.

This is a full-time position based at Bradt’s office in Chesham, Bucks. Starting early November.

Closing date: 1st October 2019

Salary: £26-29k, depending on experience.

To Apply: send a CV and covering letter by email to Adrian Phillips (adrian.phillips@bradtguides.com).
